2010 Win at Cayuga County Weedsport NY
Schartner two in a row Weedsport win 7-3-2011
On Friday at Brewerton Speedway, he brought his family built and operated Mod-Lite home fifth. On Saturday, he switched from the dirt to the pavement and came home third at the Oswego Speedway driving the Crow Motorsports Small Block Supermodified.
Then, he went back to the dirt on Sunday and closed the weekend out with a wire-to-wire Mod-Lite victory at the Cayuga County Fair Speedway in Weedsport, N.Y. For the 21-year-old Schartner, it was all in a weekend's work.
"We had a really good weekend overall," Schartner said. "Friday and Saturday were solid, and winning here tonight is awesome. My father builds the Mod-Lite cars I drive, so it's always special to win one of these races. The car was really loose tonight so I just ran the bottom and that ended up working out really well."
Andrew has always enjoyed going from one type of racing surface to the other. "It's fun and it's challenging," the UNC-Charlotte Motorsports Engineering student says. "It takes different skills and different thought processes to be fast on each surface, and the two cars I drive are so much different. I think it makes you a better racer if you can race both, and I am really appreciative that so many people have gotten behind me to allow me to do that."
